The irony of calling myself an artist and spending all my time doing everything but painting 🙈

I work part-time around looking after my children and only have a small amount of time per week to actually be creative, and sometimes it��’s hard to be inspired on-demand. I’m so determined to dedicate more time in the week to painting and drawing, whether those ideas become something great or not… it’s all part of the process isn’t it?!

Half term round up ✨

A week of juggling work and keeping the kids busy, luckily the weather was ☀️ so plenty of time spent outdoors and in the garden.

Some highlights included:

🚂 Trip to Audley End and a ride on the enchanted train
📚 Roald Dahl museum - my children aren’t familiar with the stories yet but I certainly enjoyed rediscovering some of my favourite books from childhood!
🎨 Working on some wonderful pet portraits (whilst trying to stay cool in my studio 🥵)
📦 Packing up Father’s Day orders 🩵
🪄Harry Potter studio tour - a magical experience for all ages (we took the kids and my MIL) and so inspiring to see the level of detail, creativity and dedication that goes into creating the films.

Hope you all survived the heat, I was glad to see some rain this morning!

My little girl turned four over weekend 🥳 and I had promised her a flamingo birthday card. So I designed one myself, with her help! (Yes, I got her to sketch a design out for me- I might actually do this more often!) This subsequently led me to create a range of cards inspired by my kids and their love of animals - and have the range ready by her birthday! 🎈 so here’s a sneak preview, our Zoo Friends Birthday collection is out Tuesday 12th May 🐅🦩🐧

It’s National Pet Day today 🐾 so here are some of the wonderful pets that I have had the pleasure of painting over the past few months. What a privilege it is to be able to see such a variety of unique and beautiful pets and work with lovely customers who cherish and value their pets so much. The love they have for their pets is a gorgeous thing to witness, and is such an inspiration to me when it comes to drawing them.

This portrait of Dolly and Maximus was such a cute one to work on. Dolly is an English Bull Terrier and Maximus is a mini Jack Russell, who was only 11 weeks old at the time the portrait was done. The customer wanted a portrait with the two sitting together with Max in front of Dolly, they look like such good pals ❤️

This colourful portrait of Nell was a gift for the customer’s parents, inspired by one of their favourite photos of Nell in their garden. It was lovely to draw the big flower pot which really adds a personal touch to the portrait 🌸🪴and Nell is looking very chilled out lying next to it!
